The Krakauer piano company was founded in 1869 in New York City by Simon and Julius Krakauer. The company was a notable piano manufacturer of high quality instruments and had several innovations in the 19th and early 20th century. It survived the Great Depression and remained in the Krakauer family until 1977, when it was sold to Howard Graves, and the company moved to Berlin, Ohio. The piano was produced until 1985, at which time the company closed its doors.
