This is a good example of the 1978 design that was put into these Lowrey pianos. You can see the screened opening in the bottom of the case where sound can escape, as well as the taller lid prop that opens the lid on an angle mimicking the grand piano style. This walnut 40" console is in great condition, and upon inspection was found to have tight tuning pins with no cracks in the soundboard or bridges. It is in our overflow showroom, in line for reconditioning which will include:
We guarantee our work with a 2-year mechanical warranty.
This is an entry level instrument, and would be great for a beginner pianist and/or smaller music rooms. Perfect for those wanting to have a good piano for a great price.
Lowrey is an organ manufacturer which began making organs in Chicago in 1956. They are known for their electronic features that were very popular in the 1960-80's and featured in the Beatles music as well as other popular artists. During this time Lowrey made a few pianos, although this was not the focus of their business.
In 1963 they became part of the Story & Clark piano company, with pianos continuing to be produced with the Lowrey name until 1989. The Lowrey piano is no longer in production today.
Interesting fact: prior to their full scale organ manufacturing, Lowrey sold a device called the Organo, which allowed "one to play organ tunes from an acoustic piano."
