Build in 1920 and restored by RPI in 1978, this piano has lovingly been cared for by one family since restoration. In 1978 it was refinished, received a new pinblock, strings, and hammers. The soundboard and bridges are original. The action parts were reconditioned at that time as well. This piano is a Duo Art reproducing grand, which was also completely renovated at that time.
The acoustic mechanism of this piano will be reconditioned, and the reproducing mechanism will be checked over and repaired as needed. It will be in fine working condition soon! A matching bench is included, as well as a variety of piano rolls.
We back our work with a 2-year mechanical warranty.
This is a lovely piano that was enjoyed and maintained with the utmost care. It will be a wonderful addition to your home!
George Steck was a German immigrant who opened up a piano manufacturing company in New York in 1857. His factories soon grew along with his fame. He was the first to develop the independent cast iron frame, and won medals in Vienna and Philadelphia in the 1870's. The Steck instruments were praised by Franz Liszt and Richard Wagner.
The Aeolian piano company acquired the company in 1904 and produced the Steck pianos until the 1980's. From 2004 on, George Steck has been owned by various Asian piano companies, and was imported from China until 2015. It is no longer made today.
