Petrof Piano History
The first Petrof piano was made in the now Czech Republic in 1864 by Antonin Petrof. The company grew with the help of his sons, albeit through unrest in that region of Europe. By 1883, uprights were being produced, and by 1915 the youngest son took over after his father's death. 1924 brought international exportation and entry into world expo events, which brought notoriety to the piano and many awards won.
The company weathered many national issues, including it's nationalization in 1948. Throughout this time, it was under the management of the Petrof family. In 2001 the Petrof family finally regained ownership and in 2004 celebrated it's 140th year with 5th generation, Zuzana Petrofova at it's helm.
