A matching artist bench is included. This piano has been inspected and is in good condition. The case has fading on one leg and on the lyre which will be tinted to match the piano. The action parts are original to the piano, and will need to be replaced. Once done, this will receive a full regulation, tuning and voicing.

We back our work with a 2-year mechanical warranty, however the reproducing player parts are not included in this warranty.

A new Mason & Hamlin piano is indeed a wonderful piano, and the 6'4" size is still made today. New, the piano costs about $111,367, but you cannot purchase a reproducing piano of this era. If you want a wonderful piano for a fraction of that price, and a piece of history consider this preowned Mason!

Mason & Hamlin Piano History

In 1854 Henry Mason & Emmons Hamlin founded the Mason & Hamlin piano company in Boston, MA. This was the beginning of a long lasting relationship that brought innovative applications to the design of the piano, including the "tension resonator" and the "screw stringer" mechanism. While the Screw Stringer mechanism is no longer used today, the tension resonator device is still incorporated into the Mason design.

The Mason & Hamlin company enjoyed success in the US until the great depression of 1930, when they became part of the Aeolian-American company. They continued to be produced as a high level instrument until the 1980's when the large company dissolved. The Mason & Hamlin name changed hands a few times until 1996 when it was bought by the Brothers Kirk & Gary Burgett, who still own the company today.

Mason & Hamlin is one of two piano brands that are still made in the USA today, although their Artist & Classic series grands are made in China.
