Aeolian American Piano History
In 1932 the Aeolian American Company was formed with the merging of several piano manufactures including Weber, Pianola, A.B.Chase, Chickering, Knabe, George Steck, etc. These pianos were made in several factories across the USA, and continued to make the player piano mechanism until the early 1980's.
In 1959 and again in 1983 the company changed hands and the many names that were held by the Aeolian Corporation were sold to various piano manufactures until finally, in 2001 the Aeolian name was acquired by the Gibson Guitar company. There is not a piano made today with the Aeolian name on it.
A wealth of piano rolls can be found in many antique shops and flea markets across the country, as well as online. However the QRS company continues to make new piano rolls that are available on their website.
